Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight…
After a few weeks away on vacation, I’m back in Boston, back at work and back to the blog…
I have to say this week, in my world, has proved to be very comic- or at the very least heavily dramatic. The tragedy was found in the form of friends, who due to the Icelandic volcano, had plans turned upside down and a few tough days. Hopefully things are starting to look up…
The dramatic initially took the guise of my form assembly. With a focus on Colonial Boston and the War of Independence the kids did an amazing amount of research and created some cute little drama sequences to link all their ideas together. Despite the fact I know how hard they had worked and the fact it was them that the spotlight was shinning on, I think it was still me that was the most nervous! (Yes, it is always about me!) I have to say, they did a fantastic job, and I was very proud of them. I would say that they all went out with a bang, but in actual fact I think it was me that produced my very own bang, by falling backwards over a table in the middle of a Math test. Yes, the children found it unbelievably hilarious, and yes, it did really hurt and I did end up lying on my back laughing to mask the fact I actually wanted to cry. I do remember falling over as a child, what I don’t remember is that ten minutes after it happened I was black and blue and as stiff as a board. I’m fairly certain I used to just get up and carry on with whatever game I was playing- maybe it is more the fact that my Math tests just aren’t as fun as tag- mental note to self- look into that.
This week has been fairly social, I have been busy making new friends, and enjoying Friday night drinks with previously made friends, who I have to say had me laughing nearly non-stop for a good few hours. We tried a “new”, in so far as I haven’t been there before, bar, which I did enjoy. Eating from a low sofa was a challenge but the food was good. You know how in every funny story you always have to start with, “I have a friend, who knew some people…” well, these are THE people in the story. Thank you Sarah-Jane and Spencer for a very entertaining Friday.
Saturday was the evening of the play! I have been looking forward to seeing “A Funny Thing Happened…” for the last month now, and I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. I have always found it a great farce, and the actors really made this performance one to watch. Now if only my life ran as smoothly as theirs! And as I said, my spelling and adding really aren’t that bad- I don’t see what the problem is….
Generally my week has trundled along with a few comic interludes to keep my amused. I’ve managed to get back into the running, I’ve even been doing it outside despite the rain and the miserable temperatures. Next week is looking busy, so I’m thinking the weekend might require a special trip…
